Final idea

Final Idea (Initial Idea 3 with a twist):

For my final idea I have chosen my initial idea 3. This is because this is my favourite idea out of all three ideas due to it not being complex and it to be easier for the audience to understand. It has an unexpected plot twist of the vampire's friend wanting to kill them. This idea meets with the client brief since this is aimed towards 15+ (people who are in year 10 to sixth form). The short film won't have as much harsh scenes as it's only a 15+. There is a hidden message behind this short film, not everyone is what you expect which will educate the target audience to be aware on how people are actually are. I've will be extremely fun to film, and I am able to experiment on all of the camera angles, focus, shutter speed, iso (everything I've learn in lesson). I have props for the main characters, and I know how to do makeup for them which will make it good financially since I won't need to buy as much props as I would.

analysis of short films

 Three short films:

1) Pixar Shorts Collection Luxo Jr 1986 YouTube - (1986) First ever Pixar Film - Animation

2) Post-it Love | Future Shorts (youtube.com) - (2008) Romance

3) https://youtu.be/BIS04fIoUGA?si=15uk9uBiG3XEpMbs -  Animation Horror

First Pixar short film: (animation)

There are two characters in the short movie. Since it's animated it has a bigger budget to emphasis the small details of each character (the emotion of the light, why are they playing with the light). We are able to see that the big light and the baby light both have a thing for the ball and share similar feelings towards it.

The genre of this short film is "animated-comedy". The director has shown this multiple times throughout the short film. By making the lights play with the ball and the light is confused on what the ball is since the light is kicking it and it's just coming back. The confusion of the light makes the audience laugh just like how the genre is comedy. Obviously the whole short film is animated.

In the first Pixar short film the plot twist is that the short film leads up to the ball breaking.  The audience would be shocked to see that the ball deflated by the baby light but can laugh at the reactions of the lights since the lights are still trying to hit the ball even though it has deflated.

With the budget of Pixar first short film you can see the budget is high since the animation is smooth. Since the animation came out 1986 it was quite advanced at the time.

Sound is a huge convention in short films however with Pixar's first short film there is little to no dialogue but just relying on the visuals plus sound effects. As a result the audience will be able to focus more about the image and the feeling of the lightbulb by it's movements and flickers.

Post-it-love short film: (Romance)

There are two characters in the short movie. Compared to larger films short movies have a smaller budget which means it has a limited number of characters. Although a short movie has a smaller amount of people this means that people can focus on these characters (emotion, motivation and what is their point of this film) more since a short movie is shorter than a larger film. This is good since we can see at the start the two main characters and how they're lives are similar to each other.

The genre of this short film is "romance". The director has shown this multiple times throughout the short film. By showing short sticky notes that are themed love, with the colour pink with is associated with love. This will make it easier for the audience to understand what genre this short film is.

In the short film "Post-it-love" the plot twist is that the short film leads up to unexpected love since it seems as though at the start their is two characters living their lives normally.  The audience would be shocked to see what the guy main character does for the female lead in the short film since it's a sweet gesture of love which sets the love standards high.

With the budget of the short film "Post-It-Love" you can see the budget is low since the main characteristic of the short film is sticky notes. Sticky notes are cheap and you can buy multiple of them and create a cute storyline with it.

Sound is a huge convention in short films however with "Post-It-Love" there is little to no dialogue but just relying on the visuals. As a result the audience will be able to focus more about the image understanding the deeper meaning of the short film.

Tim Burton - Vincent: (Horror)

There are is one main character which is battling himself with his visions. Although a short movie has a smaller amount of people this means that people can focus on these characters (emotion, motivation and what is their point of this film). This is good since we can see how the main character changes throughout the whole short film, since it's only focusing on him.

The genre of this short film is "animated-horror". The director has shown this multiple times throughout the short film. The first way we can see this is in the screen grab above, these creatures seem to be a reflection if the young boys feelings. The whole films in black and white making it spookier. The whole short film is animated.

In the short film "Tim Burton - Vincent" the plot twist is that the short film leads up to the main character slowly losing himself thinking he's someone else but his mother keeps telling him he is imagining things.  The audience would be shocked to see what happens to the main character due to him slowly losing himself in the process thinking he is an old man when he is just a young boy.

With the budget of the short film "Tim Burton - Vincent" you can see the budget is high since the animation is smooth with many different aspects such as a drawing seen in the image above of the main character trying to portray his ex "wife".

The dialogue is a huge concept of this short film due to it explaining the thoughts of the main character making the audience have a idea on how he thinks and what his preceptive is when his mother doesn't believe that he is actually an old man.

How I used cinematography
